Wine, Neighbors, Theatre & Community

The Fredericksburg community is close-knit, and City Vino loves to partner with other neighboring businesses to help keep that sense of community going strong. One of those businesses is our upstairs neighbors, Fredericksburg Theatre Ensemble (FTE) at Fred's Theatre.

Fredericksburg Theatre Ensemble is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been bringing the community live music, theatrical performances, karaoke, and other public and private events, since its opening in 2011.

The current production by Fredericksburg Theatre Ensemble is “Wonderland Wives,” by Buddy Thomas. It is a Cinderella story gone a bit awry, with the tagline “Once Upon a Time, Things Got a Little Naughty.” Oh my! Performances run August 16th, 17th, 23rd, and 24th, at 7:30 p.m., and on August 18th and 25th, at 3:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $10. Click here for tickets.

To pay homage to this production, one of the wine selections we will be featuring this weekend (Saturday, August 10th, 2019) will be Terre dei Buth, Frizzante Rosé Special Cuvée (NV). This non-vintage pink sparkler hails from Italy and is fresh and fruity, with aromas of gooseberry and red currant. The wine is made from a blend of Glera and Raboso grapes. Glera brings liveliness to the wine and it is the grape used to make Prosecco. Raboso is a lesser-known, local Italian grape that brings red fruit aromas and a smoothness to this wine.

The Terre dei Buth wine will help bring Cinderella a moment of joy after a long day of drudgery, cleaning her stepmother’s and stepsisters’ home. Also, the wine is elegant enough to be served to the new Princess, should Cinderella and Prince Charming get married and live happily ever after. No spoilers here! You’ll have to attend the play to find out.

Our wine tasting this weekend will be poured by Jeremy Sutton of Kysela Pere et Fils. Jeremy is a National Sales Agent at Kysela, which was named “2013 Importer of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast magazine. Jeremy may be Prince Charming in real life, but you’ll have to stop by the tasting this Saturday to find out for yourself, or attend one of the productions of “Wonderland Wives.” You can ask the actress playing Cinderella after the show, because she is Jeremy’s wife!

In keeping with the spirit of Wine, Neighbors, Theatre & Community, part of the proceeds from the sale of Terre dei Buth will be donated to the Fredericksburg Theatre Ensemble.
