39% Shiraz, 18% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, 8% Malbec, 8% Durif (Petite Sirah), 6% Tempranillo, 3% Cinsault, 3% Viognier, 2% Tannat. Typical Rhone style wine. Aromas of blueberries, raspberry, red cherry, strawberry, earthy, leather, and plums with a touch of baking spice. Additional flavors of red currants, cranberry, smoke, oak, tobacco, vanilla, chocolate, mushroom. It has a youthful, juicy palate with layered generous berry fruit and pepper which is balanced with integrated oak nuances. The palate is smooth with fine tannin and a long fresh finish.
Food Pairing: This wine is a dream with rich, Mediterranean-style food. Perfect with dishes like Sirloin strip roast with Roquefort mushrooms and braised lamb with potatoes.
This vintage the blend predominantly consists out of the traditional Rhône varieties Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre. The Shiraz was harvested from trellised vineyards in the Paarl, Stellenbosch and Swartland regions. The juicy Grenache noir is from the Paarl. The Mourvèdre is from Paarl and Stellenbosch regions. Other varieties includes Petite Sirah, also known as Durif, and Tempranillo is grown side by side in decomposed granite soils from our trellised Paarl vineyards. The Cinsault is from bush vines up on the higher decomposed sites in Paarl. This year the goats roamed a little further and more varieties were included. These were included as minor components and without changing the style of the wine. All the grapes are 100% Fairtrade.
