46% Syrah, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 10% Mourvèdre, 8% Grenache. Deep purple with tinges of ruby in color. Slight bret aromas that give way to earth, blackberry, dirt, barnyard, black plum, vanilla, and cream. More fruit notes on the palate with black plum, black currant, red cherry, compote, smoke, woody, black pepper, cigar box, greenery, leather, and cocoa. This is a dry wine with old world characteristics but with a stronger intensity. Dry, with medium acidy, medium-plus chalky tannins and body. This does develop pass the bret tones into more fruit notes as you sip on this. It ends with a medium-plus finish. Well structured wine with layers of complexity, would do well to age and see where it goes.
Food Pairing: grilled meat, ribs, smokey sausage, beef bourguignon, mushroom lentil, aged cheddar, gouda, stilton, roquefort.
