Ever wonder why Merlot tastes so different depending on where it’s grown? The definition of terroir has evolved from a simple idea of soil and place to a living, shifting relationship between land, climate, seasons, and human decision-making. In this class, we’ll explore how that evolving concept plays out in the vineyard, examining healthy soils, farming practices, latitude, and vintage variation while tasting Merlots from classic Pomerol to unexpected New World regions. Join us as we trace how terroir has expanded over time and discover how nature, technique, and tradition continue to shape every glass of Merlot.
Future Classes: April 4 – Blind Tasting; May 2 – Tour of the Loire Valley, France; June 6 – Qye Syrah, Shiraz
So creative and wildly talented, Janea Dupeyron will be returning to City Vino for a Sip & Soothe class. This experience is designed to surround you with uplifting music, great wine, and a gentle lesson in putting your feelings into collage. It’s part art class, part self-care, and part soul reset. A portion of Janea’s jazz band, Fuzzy Goldmine, will be joining us with live music, serving as both the soundtrack and inspiration for the evening. You can already imagine it—musical notes floating through the air, wine glasses clinking, creativity unfolding at the table. Come sip, create, listen, and soothe. This one is going to be special.
City Vino will be hosting Fredericksburg Theatre Ensemble once again for our delightful Wine and Musical Cabaret, this time infused with a touch of magic as house favorite Patrick Reynolds takes the stage as emcee, guiding you through an evening of romantic duets, mischievous moments, and shimmering magical sparkles (that may also bubble), so come get raptured, get a little reckless, and lose yourself with us in two nights of pure fantasia—tickets include a flight of wine and a light snack, with additional wines by the glass and a light menu available for purchase.
All the way from Piedmont, Italy, Andrea Rinaldi will be coming to City Vino, and I cannot tell you how excited we are. If you’ve ever had the Rinaldi Appassimento Barbera or Joyful—and I know many of you have—this is your chance to meet the winemaker and even get your bottle signed. Andrea will be sharing stories about living in Italy, his family, and his experience crafting wine, and we truly can’t wait. He is incredibly generous, and I still can’t believe we get him for the night. Expect many fun wines, lots of laughter, and big energy—he has a wonderfully large personality to match his serious talent as a winemaker. This is one of those nights you don’t want to miss.

Funny Man and beloved City Vino wine rep, Jon Yeager is coming to City Vino to share jokes and wine. He is bringing with him comics that have played at the DC Improv and have appeared on TV. Can't name drop, you just must come see who it is. Included are four comics paired with four wines and a light snack. By the glass, bottles sales, and other food menu items available for purchase.
