100% Gamay. This medium dark reddish-purple wine despite being unlined and unfiltered. It opens with scents of blackberries, blueberries, earthy clay, black cherry. The flavors carry over and add red cherry, strawberry, leather, minerals, flint and finish with a touch of smoke. Bright acidity structured with ample tannins but not heaviness.
Food Pairing: Grilled meat or poultry would serve this bottle very well, as would flavorful cheese- or bean-based entrees. It went nicely with fat, midsummer green peppers stuffed with ground beef and bulghur.
