Some Things Just Go Together—Hand and Glove, Salt and Pepper … Wine and a Movie

Some Things Just Go Together—Hand and Glove, Salt and Pepper … Wine and a Movie So, the groundhog saw his shadow a while back, and you know what that meant: Six more weeks of winter! While we here in the ’Burg don’t get the hellacious nor’easters they get up north, we do get sick and tired of the cold and the snow. So, we hunker down at home and turn on the tube or fire up our computer. I don’t know about you, but for me, network TV is slim pickins for something to watch. I like a good move—whether it’s classic oldy, or a current hit. (Isn’t it great that we can stream new releases so soon after they’re in the theaters?) Give me a good flick, a comfy seat, and … a bottle of wine.

Won’t You Take Me to Sparkle Town

Won’t You Take Me to Sparkle Town City Vino has borrowed and personalized the lyrics to the classic song by Lipps Inc, Funkytown, in honor of this week’s sparkling topic and tasting. Here goes:

Gotta try to find a sparkling wine that's right for me
City Vino keeps me tastin’
Keeps me tryin’ with some more bubbly

Twice Thankful

Twice Thankful This week, City Vino is indeed twice thankful. We are first thankful for our staff, our customers, and club members for your support again this past year. We love to be able to expand our customer’s wine experiences by sharing wines from small producers and small lots that you will not find in a supermarket or a big chain wine shop. Being able to assist you to pick a bottle or two or twelve for your everyday table, family or friend gathering, or that incredibly special occasion, means so very much to us.

Finally, a French Thanksgiving

Finally, a French Thanksgiving In the previous couple of weeks, City Vino has written about wines from Italy, and then Eastern Europe, to pair with your Thanksgiving meal. This week, we go to France. Our selections of French wines include white wines, with some richness to them, that stand up to and complement your holiday dishes. Light-bodied white wines may get lost among the dishes, so we selected whites with a heavier body, to harmoniously pair with your Thanksgiving bounty.
