Wines of Veneto The larger region of Veneto is located in the north-eastern part of Italy. It gets its name from Venice, the capital city. To the east is Friuli-Venezia Giulia. To the south is Emilia Romagna, to the west is Lombardy. To the north is Trentino-Alto-Adige.

What defines a region as either “Old World” or “New World?” In most wine maps France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, and Portugal are highlighted as “Old World.” Sure, these regions have been making wines for a thousand years or more.
